The Tulsa Area COVID-19 Response Fund (Fund) granted Family & Children’s Services (F&CS) $24,000 to help feed 2,310 hungry children and adults for five weeks this summer.
The grant from the Fund couldn’t have come at a better time for F&CS children and families struggling with food insecurity because of COVID-19. F&CS’s helped individuals from Early Childhood and Children’s Mental Health, Child Abuse and Trauma Services, Women in Recovery, Women’s Justice Team and Adult Mental Health Live-Well and PACT programs.
The Fund, established to help increase resilience among the region’s most vulnerable individuals and families, was made possible from a partnership between the Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) and the Tulsa Area United Way,
Chief Development Officer Tom Taylor said, “We asked for enough to feed 1,300 children and adults, but because of the generosity of the Fund we were able to feed 2,310 hungry people. Our clients said that we helped to alieve another stressor during the pandemic for them while getting their regular services. We sincerely thank the Tulsa Area COVID-19 Response Fund, area foundations, community partners and corporations for their gift.”
ABOUT THE TULSA AREA COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND
Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) and Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW) have established the Tulsa Area COVID-19 Response Fund, dedicated to increasing resilience among the region’s most vulnerable individuals and families.
The Fund will:
- Support local non-profit agencies addressing the needs of those individuals who are experiencing COVID-19 related hardship, primarily due to temporary unemployment, lost income, or unexpected food and childcare expenses.
- Rapidly deploy resources to trusted community-based organizations working on the frontlines of the area’s COVID-19 response and who have expertise and relationships with families in need.
WHO IS INVOLVED?
A group of philanthropic lead partners have come together to establish the Fund held at TCF. TAUW and TCF will quickly review online grant applications from community-based organizations providing services to those directly impacted. Both organizations will assure grants are made to legitimate service organizations to reach those in the greatest need located within the Tulsa Metropolitan Area. Grants will be delivered expediently to support those in immediate need. Given the dynamic nature of this historical situation, the Fund intends to provide grants on a rolling basis and adapt to changing circumstances.
