How Julie is beating her nicotine addiction.
Julie smokes. She knows it’s bad for her health.
When she lost her job because of COVID, she started smoking more because she was depressed. The vicious cycle got worse as she was more depressed because she couldn’t stop smoking.
Julie knew she needed help and found relief through Family & Children’s Services (F&CS) counseling. As an added bonus, she was also given help breaking her nicotine addiction through the support of a free subscription to the myStrength app. While there are many smoking cessation apps on the market today, not many have been rigorously evaluated for effectiveness.
myStrength is the gold-standard, evidence-based tool for nicotine addiction and the various conditions and life stressors that can make quitting even harder. The program was designed by renowned nicotine recovery expert Dr. Amy Lukowski, licensed psychologist, Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS), and a Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) trainer. Dr Lukowski has over 12 years of experience working clinically with individuals and populations and built the nicotine recovery program based on proven approaches that truly get to the heart of behavior change.
To compliment her F&CS treatment plan, Julie uses the myStrength smoking cessation track with focuses on mindfulness. She is smoking 2 cig/day which is down from over ½ pack per day.
Julie said, “myStrength helps me stay accountable for mindfulness and tracking my successes. I love how easy the activities are because they are less overwhelming that way. myStrength is my extra support when I can’t talk to my therapist. It helps me see that I am not alone and that what I am feeling, others feel it too.”
myStrength’s digital behavioral health platform is free through F&CS. Try it today and see for yourself.
