Angela Bauer, a licensed clinical social worker, is the Senior Program Director of Mental Health Clinical Services at Family & Children’s Services (FCS) where she leads several programs with over 40 staff members and serves over 5,000 consumers a year.
Bauer is committed to individuals, families and systems in order to improve their capacity to function. Her specialties in working with individuals include individual psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments with an emphasis on suicidality, crisis intervention, trauma and co-occurring disorders. She has conducted an extensive amount of group therapy work ranging from inpatient residential treatment with adolescent male sex offenders to young children in inpatient units to outpatient Drug Court and substance use programs.
Within community systems, she has created programs designed for specific needs of client populations and has inspired teams of clinicians to passionately pursue helping individuals and systems. She has been a leader throughout her career, working with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate everyone’s strengths in pursuit of improved social welfare.
Embodying the values of social work enables Bauer to be a change agent as a leader and as an individual. Social work system’s theory plays an integral role in her work. She applies the principle that an effective system is based on individual needs, rewards and attributes of the people using and living in the system. Her understanding of how to apply this theory has led to many changes within the healthcare systems she has worked in, with the outcome of creating more efficient, impactful systems that help many clients.
