Kiera Jackson, a student at Oklahoma State University majoring in Sociology, is an intern at Family & Children’s Services and spent 200 hours between May and August offering her services to the agency.
Kiera assists specifically with the Parenting, Marriage and Relationship classes, helping clients learn effective strategies and develop quality techniques to help improve parenting and relationships. Family and Children’s Services strongly believes in evidenced-based programming, which gave Kiera the opportunity to sit in and observe the classes and the quality curriculum offered. Classes included First Five Years, Active Parenting Teens, and Forever, For Real (Within My Reach).
Kiera also assisted with the Tulsa County Family Court statistics, which consists of the Parenting Plan Conference Surveys and the Agreed Court Dockets, which are used for the quarterly reports for the agency. Kiera’s internship with Family and Children’s Services not only helps her gain quality experience for her future career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, but it gave her the opportunity to give back to the community she was raised in, and make an impact to help better the community to ensure a better future for the children in the community.
