On August 26, Tulsa will gain an exciting new option for shoppers looking for cost-effective, quality clothing and household items all while helping others in need. The Family & Children’s Services Thrift Store, located at 724 S. Utica, is preparing racks filled with quality “goods for good” included new and gently used clothing and household goods and new merchandise from supportive local merchants.
Since 1925, Family & Children’s Services (F&CS) has been the place to turn for help with problems that seem overwhelming and too difficult to handle alone. Today the agency serves one in six Tulsans by healing hurt and abused children, strengthening families and providing hope and a path to recovery for those battling mental illness and addiction.
“In a climate filled with uncertain financial support for services, the Family & Children’s Services Thrift Store was created with a three-part mission,” said Director of Communications Dee Harris. “Sales help support services and programs for our community while providing work opportunities for our Women in Recovery and other F&CS clients. Finally, the thrift store will give goods to F&CS clients in need. Last year, alone, we served over 114,000 individuals.”
Tulsa County donors interested in donating to the thrift store can drop off goods or call for a pickup. “We are happy to take away your goods for good, “ said Harris. “Gently used or new clothing and small household items that can be dropped off Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. at our thrift store location or donors can call 918.340.5040 to set up a pickup.”
