Lori Campbell
Vice President of Community Integration and Engagement
Which branch of the military did you serve in, and why did you choose it?
I chose the U.S. Navy for several reasons. First, there are many beautiful duty stations around the world located near the ocean. Additionally, the U.S. Navy’s mission closely aligns with my personality and my desire to support something larger than myself. Finally, I appreciate the outstanding variety of sharp uniforms.
What skills or values from your military service do you find most useful in your current role?
As a transparent team player, I possess strong communication and diverse collaboration skills, along with the compassion to understand others’ perspectives without being judgmental or dismissive.
What brought you to FCS?
FCS supports individuals, their families and various communities in need. This aligns perfectly with my values regarding what is important in an organization that I chose to be part of.
What does Veterans Day mean to you personally?
Veterans Day is truly special to me and my family, who supported me during my service and my transition back.
I never imagined the profound sacrifices I would endure before joining the U.S. military. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would. For this reason, Veterans Day holds a special meaning for me and my brothers and sisters who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. I take great pride in hearing “thank you for your service,” and for me, Veterans Day is a day of gratitude for our service and sacrifices.
How has your military experience influenced your career and life today?
My military global humanitarian experience has forever been deeply embedded within me and my model now is,
“BE THAT CHOPPER THAT CIRCLES BACK.”
“SELECT A VETERAN TO TAKE UNDER YOUR WINGS.”
“OFFER YOUR HAND AS WE TRANSITION CAREERS.”
I care about the people and their well-being.
