Which branch of the military did you serve in, and why did you choose it?
Air National Guard (138th Fighter Wing, Tulsa, OK) National guard allowed me to serve my state and country as well as provide a better life for my children as a newly single mom. Plus, I have a fascination with airplanes.
What skills or values from your military service do you find most useful in your current role?
Integrity first, service before self. I am very task and detail oriented. I have developed great patience but firm boundaries.
What brought you to FCS?
I wanted a way to help families more than my current role as a teacher.
What does Veterans Day mean to you personally?
It is a time to honor my brothers and sisters in arms. They are my family and deserve to be recognized for their sacrifices and duty to our country.
How has your military experience influenced your career and life today?
I am more appreciative of the things I have and my ability to serve. It is not a life for everyone. I need order and structure, and the military was able to provide that for me to be successful.
