Tyfany Edwards
Therapist, Adult Mental Health & Mental Health Court
How did you get started in the field?
I started working in an inpatient treatment center to help others who struggled with addiction. My love for service to others just grew from there. I started at FCS in 2015 as a peer support specialist and continued through school to get to where I am now.
Why did you go into social work?
Social work is a service of the heart. I chose social work for the very broad employment opportunities offered with a social work degree and believe strongly in our code of ethics.
What do you love about your job?
“The light comes back on.” Many times, in substance use and SMI treatment, our clients come to us very desperate and in trouble with the legal system. Through engagement, support and treatment, we watch the light come on, and they build their lives into the unimaginable. We see the tangible version of hope every day.
