Lucy Briggs
Case Manager, Women’s Justice Team
How did you get started in the field?
I started working for my tribal headquarters at the Muscogee Creek Nation early in my career. Learning about the long historical trauma my ancestors faced is what fueled my passion to go into social work. I wanted to help the future generations.
Why did you go into social work?
Social workers are everywhere – in healthcare, education, government, etc. Social workers advocate for those who do not have a voice; they promote changes in social policies that help those who suffer from poverty, discrimination, illness, and disabilities; they fight for social justice.
What do you love about your job?
I love what the agency does for the populations that we work with and how that integrates into the community. Seeing our clients succeed is the highlight of my job. Being a part of this team is fulfilling.
