Claudia Arthrell is the Senior Program Director of Professional Services at Family & Children’s Services where she has worked since 1979. During this time, Claudia has served as a therapist, supervisor, program developer, and local and national trainer.
Claudia has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Helping Children Cope with Divorce Program, recognized nationally for its outcomes and best practices. She has led the community through times of crisis and is a national certified Psychological First Aid Trainer. Claudia has overseen the Tulsa County Family Court Program with Judge Mary Fitzgerald, and both have received statewide recognition for the program’s priority for assisting families as they go through divorce. Claudia supervises an innovative federal grant in the child support arena provides counseling, education, mediation, and parenting planning to many of the never married parents trying to be present in their children’s lives. Statewide, F&CS is one of the few agencies offering ongoing parenting, divorce and relationship classes in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area with continuous scholarship funding so no participants are turned away.
Claudia has a passion for training the next generation. With the assistance and direction of the agency clinical supervisors, Claudia facilitates the scheduling of Inservice CEU trainings each year. Finding the trainers and the programs to meet the variety of training needs has been instrumental in the ongoing excellence in service F&CS delivers.
Working with universities, interns, and agency supervisors have become another role for Claudia. Taking the time to help all interns find their best opportunity for training and professional growth has expanded over the years. F&CS takes great pride in training our next generation of professionals in the work setting.
For 25 years, Claudia enjoyed writing her “Teens N Tweens” column in Tulsa Kids magazine as well as having a weekly spot with Glenda Silvey on the “Families First” segment of the KOTV noon news. She has received awards form the Oklahoma Marriage and Family Therapy Association as an Outstanding Clinician and was awarded the Pinnacle Award by the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women as well as the Mental Health Association of Tulsa for her contributions to the Tulsa community.
Claudia has maintained a private practice in individual, marriage and family therapy and is a collaborative divorce coach, discernment counselor, mediator, and life coach.
Claudia treasures her family most for supporting her through this time. Dan, her husband of 44 years, their sons, Justin and Mykey and their wives, Kelly and Margaritte, and their four grandchildren, Millie, Sage, Ash and Simone bring great joy in her life.
Claudia’s clients have served as her professional inspiration. These programs would not be possible happen without the incredible families who trust F&CS to support and challenge us to do our best as we meet their needs.
