Each year, many volunteers execute Family & Children’s Services (F&CS) Care Card event. Featuring nearly 200 businesses, Care Card has provided the ultimate shopping experience for Tulsans, all while raising funds for F&CS.
Spearheading the process are Linda Woodard and Sheryl Boone, who currently serve as the 2020 Care Card co-chairs. Because of their tenacious dedication, the proceeds from Care Card not only benefits clients, but local and regional businesses who support F&CS. Volunteers can sign up to be involved as a card seller or a merchant liaison. There is continual support, and volunteers are recognized for their time at the end of the campaign.
“I recognize the important work that Family & Children’s Services provides and welcome the opportunity to be a part of that impact,” Linda said, who has volunteered for Care Card for more than 20 years. “The work of F&CS, the dedication of our community and the contributions of the many business owners who partner with us is the magic our community can experience when working together.”
It was Linda’s vision and dedication that essentially drew Sheryl Boone join her as co-chair in 2019. Sheryl moved to Oklahoma 14 years ago when her husband accepted an opportunity at Kaiser-Francis Oil Company. Once the couple settled in Tulsa, Sheryl quickly learned about the important work of F&CS and volunteered at the Women in Recovery program, sponsored by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
“I was delighted to accept Linda Woodard’s invitation to co-chair an event that has a tremendous impact on the community I am proud to call home,” she said.
Linda and Sheryl’s dedication is evident to others that F&CS works daily to make Tulsa a better community for all.
