When did you first become involved in F&CS?
In mid-2017 Gail Lapidus, Marge Betley Weber and Tom Taylor were kind enough to give me a tour the facilities and go over F&CS’s history and goals/aspirations. The facilities were impressive, it was nice to see that so much care was taken to design areas custom for a variety of needs. They also invited me to a “Friends of F&CS Lunch” and that is where it really hit me that I wanted to become more involved. It was very impactful hearing first-hand accounts of how F&CS so patiently and positively impacted individuals in our community.
What about F&CS’s mission and work inspires you?
Life Changing…that really says it all. When you hear the stories of how F&CS provides hope and a path to recovery for people that in many cases had neither, it truly is inspiring. The “can do” attitude coupled with all the years of experience/expertise is a model for success for Gail and the entire F&CS Team.

When did you first become involved in F&CS?
I first became involved with F&CS while working on United Way Funds Allocation Committee in about 2000. During that engagement, I got to know Gail Lapidus, and soon thereafter, was looking to her for guidance in a family mental health matter. Then Parkside quit providing mental health services, and F&CS was asked by step in by ODMHSAS. I was asked to serve on the initial board of that subsidiary, and have been involved ever since!
What about F&CS’s mission and work inspires you?
While mental health remains my first priority, the overall mission of F&CS providing a “Beacon of Hope” to so many neighbors with overwhelming needs is awe inspiring. The many, many programs, the first-rate staff, the professional accountability, and the management team are incredible. It is humbling to part of the organization and its successes.

When did you first become involved in F&CS?
I became involved with F&CS about 3 years ago through Bank of America. When I moved to Tulsa, one of my goals was to be a contributor and partner with the community. I wanted to learn Tulsa and be part of something that touched the lives of others. When I toured Women in Recovery I was hooked and knew F&CS was the place for me.
What about F&CS’s mission and work inspires you?
I love that F&CS supports the total family which promotes the well-being of each person to help build stronger families and communities. When you can take women who were plagued with drugs and facing or served jail time and rehabilitate them from their addiction, reunite them with their children and families and re-introduce them to the community as viable contributing citizens… that inspires me; when you can help a family that has a loved one that is plagued with mental illness and provide the care and medication they need to live a healthy life…that inspires me; when you can help children coping with trauma in the home and provide them a safe haven and support…that inspires me. I could on and on about all of the wonderful things that F&CS does and I am so very proud and privileged to serve on the board of an impactful organization that is truly making a difference in our city. Because of F&CS, our communities are better, safer and thriving.
