Shannon and David are newlyweds, and both have children from a previous marriage. Even after the wedding, their children were having a difficult time adjusting to the idea of a “Step-family.”
There was constant fighting, and no one was willing to compromise. Shannon and David were running out of ideas until they found Family & Children’s Services. The couple researched and found the perfect class for their situation.
They enrolled themselves in ‘Active Parenting for Stepfamilies’ and have since gained the knowledge and tools to have a healthy and successful blended family.
Through constant open dialogue with all the children, both families have learned to come together as one.
Active Parenting for Step Families:
When a stepfamily is formed, it’s important – but not always easy – for everyone to build a good relationship. This class helps come up with realistic expectations, relationship-building skills, effective communication tools, problem-solving, learn how to merge different values and cultures, and how to handle kids who live in two households.
Classes begin July 25th, 2017. For more information, visit www.fcsok.org.
